The Solar Energy Research Center (CIESOL) is a joint research establishment, founded and managed according to an agreement signed in April 2005 between the University of Almeria and the Centre for Energy, Environment and Technology (CIEMAT) at the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. The center is located on the northern side of the University of Almería campus. The infrastructures available in this Solar Research Center for transnational access activities are:

Solar pilot plants based on CPC photo-reactors for wastewater treatment. Possible combination with Membrane Biological Reactors.

Pilot plant for the evaluation of regenerated wastewater by advanced photocatalytic solar technologies, applied to crops irrigation.

Solar heating and cooling system which consists of a solar collectors field installed on the 30º tilted building cover and oriented to the south. 80 Solaris CP1 collectors constitute the 160 m2 solar field.

Motorization system for the Bioclimatic building CIESOL.
