The SFERA Networking Activities will help to create a common knowledge base among the researchers of this project and also guarantee broad information exchange with the scientific community, in order to guarantee a sound base for further developments of different technological aspects in the joint research activities.

A set of six networking activities (NAs) are proposed:

  • (WP 2) ‘Dissemination and Publicity’, is intended to communicate to society in general, academia and especially industry, what SFERA is and what services are offered. This will give many potential users the opportunity to become aware of the possibilities existing for making use of the SFERA infrastructures. Conferences are also planned, aimed at reaching a more general audience, thus contributing to a global awareness of the consortium’s research in solar concentrating technologies.

  • (WP 4) ‘Educational Outreach Activities’ is intended to create a common training framework, providing regularised, unified training of young researchers in the capabilities and operation of concentrating solar facilities during SFERA Summer/Winter School. Meetings of senior researchers and Ph.D. student colloquiums are therefore organised periodically at alternating sites during SFERA Doctoral Colloquium. The main goal is to create a new generation of scientists with a SFERA background, able to develop their professional work at any of the labs or even in several at once.

  • (WP 5) Exchange of Best Practices for Harmonization of Working Methodologies. A more efficient consortium performance is expected to be a clear way of sharing and transferring data. It focuses more specifically on strengthening relationships within the consortium, thus creating a culture of co-operation, through short stays of personnel in others’ labs. It’s an attempt to get workers to acquire a global philosophy and attitude with respect to the whole set of SFERA infrastructures. This will make the way to further merging of activities and, perhaps, managing the framework, easier.
