Target group:         The course is designed for representatives from the CSP industry and companies (engineers, researchers) who want to be                                trained on real CSP hardware. Participants from the public sector can not participate

Objective:              This course focuses on Optical and Thermal Component Testing of Parabolic Troughs 

                                                                             and Influence on System Efficiency

                                                                                               

The efficiency steps from solar radiation to thermal energy and the available techniques to determine these values in outdoor conditions are demonstrated at the KONTAS parabolic trough test facility. The participants

• learn how to measure the component and system performance in an outdoor test rig and which of these measurements can be applied to a commercial parabolic trough plant
• learn to interpret measurement results and measurement uncertainties
• understand the interrelation between the different components and their effect on total system efficiency
• will be able to detect possible optimizations for parabolic trough plants
• get an overview of the testing and measurement capabilities of the international research centers
• share experience not only between trainers and participants, but also between the industrial participants

The training consists of both theoretical and practical modules covering the following topics: Interaction of parabolic trough collector components and influence on system efficiency, solar resource and meteorological influence factors, optical quality and measurement techniques, ageing of components, testing of REPAs (rotation and expansion performing assembly), temperature measurement with IR cameras and clamp-on techniques, thermal qualification methods, experience sharing, visit of testing facilities of Plataforma Solar de Almería

Application Deadline:  The registration deadline is 01.02.2017 on a first come, first serve basis. Class size is limited to 15 participants. Eligible candidates will be informed until February 20, 2017. The maximum number of participants from one company is two.
Fees:                          No course fee is applicable. Accommodation and travel costs shall be covered by the participant. 

Lunch is proposed at the PSA visitors center for an average price of 9,90€
The transport to the PSA is free
